No, the JVC HR-XVC12 does not have DVD recording capabilities. It is a DVD player and VHS recorder, meaning you can record to VHS tapes but not to DVDs. The unit does allow DVD-to-VHS recording, but not VHS-to-DVD. If you're looking for a DVD recorder, you would need a different model that explicitly supports DVD recording.
