The Toshiba SD-V295 is designed to play standard full-size 12cm DVD discs. It supports DVD-Video, DVD-R/RW, CD, CD-R/RW, and Video CD formats. The VCR section is a standard 4-head Hi-Fi stereo recorder/player.
The smaller 8cm “mini DVDs” used in camcorders are not officially supported on this model. These discs are often used in handheld DVD camcorders and may contain recordings in specialized formats. The disc tray on the SD-V295 is built for standard 12cm discs and does not have a recessed ring to secure smaller discs. Attempting to play an 8cm disc could cause the disc to misalign or jam.
If your camcorder discs were finalized and copied to a standard 12cm DVD, that disc will play correctly on the Toshiba SD-V295. For direct playback of the small camcorder discs, a camcorder itself or a computer with an 8cm-compatible DVD drive is recommended.
