No, this unit cannot record directly from a Roku, HBO, or other streaming services.
The Sony RDR-GX257 records only from analog audio/video inputs (red, white, yellow RCA connections) and does not record through HDMI. Streaming devices like Roku use HDMI output only, which is not compatible for recording on this unit and is also protected from recording.
You can record from devices that have analog AV outputs (such as older cable boxes, VCRs, or camcorders), but not from modern streaming services.
