Yes — the Sony SLV-D350P is a very solid choice for what you’re looking for.
This model is a reliable, well-built DVD/VCR combo with a 4-head Hi-Fi stereo VCR and progressive scan DVD playback, so it will work well with a modern flat screen TV like your 55" Smart TV. It connects easily using standard RCA cables (red/white/yellow), and many TVs still support those inputs or can use a simple adapter if needed.
For durability and long-term use:
Sony built these units very well compared to most brands
The 4-head VCR gives better picture quality and smoother playback
Progressive scan DVD helps improve picture clarity on newer TVs
A refurbished unit with a working remote will feel very close to “like new”
If your main concern is longevity and reliability, this is a strong option.
