The Olympus DS-5000 digital voice recorder allows users to set up to 32 index marks per file during recording to help them easily find important parts later. In Classic DSS mode, the maximum number of index marks per file is 16. Users can also add up to 32 verbal annotations to each file, and a verbal comment to the file as a whole. This comment can be used to give transcriptionists general instructions. The DS-5000 also has a large, backlit LCD screen that displays file information, recording time, and events. The recorder has centralized navigation buttons for easy data input and changing settings.
